Washington Wizards Offseason Needs

Starting Small Forward:
The Wizards cannot go forward with Trevor Ariza as their starting small forward. If the Cavs pass on Otto Porter for Noel the Wizards should jump on Porter as quick as they can. Porter would fill an immediate need and he, Wall and Beal would make an incredible trio for the future. They also have Martell Webster, but he is a free agent and will likely not be back.

Starting Center: If the Cavs end up taking Porter and the Magic take Burke, the Wizards should take Noel. He will not be healthy until at least December, but when he is fully healthy he would likely start right away. At center, the Wizards only have Emeka Okafor as a starter and he would be better off of the bench. They cannot afford a high priced free agent such as Al Jefferson or Nikola Pekovic because of the big contracts owed to Okafor and Nene. Not to mention they will need to pay Wall and Beal in the future.

Guard Depth:
AJ Price is a decent backup point guard, but there is nobody behind Beal. Price is also a free agent, but I don't think  Brandon Paul from Syracuse could be an option in the second round. Paul is undervalued in the draft because of his size, but he will be a formidable player off of the bench in the NBA. Vander Blue is also being undervalued. He does not have much of an outside game, but he is crazy athletic. Teams should kill for a chance to draft him in the second round. There is not much in free agency, but they could try to pick up Rodrigue Beaubois. Beaubois is a playmaker who can play off of the ball which is going to be needed off of the bench.

The Wizards are hurting in two starting spots, but they can fill at least one of them in the draft. Porter would be the ideal pickup, but they should be OK with getting Noel. They also need guard depth. The Wizards are not as far off as some think. They were above .500 when Wall got back, which would have been good enough to make the playoffs if Wall were healthy the entire season. Getting a top 3 pick will help them beyond words. They will make the playoffs next season.
