Nuggets "Shooting" Guard Situation

Last offseason the Nuggets traded away Arron Afflalo, who recently signed an extension, for Andre Iguodala. Iguodala brought many thing to the team this year and was a key cog in their regular season run, but his contract has expired. He is going to be looking for 12 million a year, but are the Nuggets willing to pay him that much for someone who is not a good shooter? He does other things really well like passing, rebounding and he plays great defense. Some other teams will give him a look, but I think he ends up on the Nuggets.

Evan Fournier played very well when given the minutes. He is a developing shooter who plays very smart basketball. He will get more playing time this year due to Corey Brewers likely departure. I love his game and think he can contribute positively to this team. I also like his prospects as a backup point guard. He will mesh better with Lawson than Miller does.

Jordan Hamilton came into the league with a lot of potential, but he has yet to crack into the lineup. He was surpassed by Fournier during the season. He played great in summer league and he looked poised to make some noise, however he never materialized. I think the coaches and front office have given up on him, but I would like to see him have some success even if it is not in Denver.

The best course of action would be to resign Iguodala as the starter and have Fournier backing up both him and Lawson. Igoudala should improve from last season because he will have more time to mesh. Fournier will continue to improve and could surprise many people who don't know much about him. If Iguodala is not resigned, the Nuggets could run into some trouble. I think Fournier would be a capable starter, but it is tough to see if he would have a capable backup. Hamilton would have to step into a much larger role.
