Toronto Raptors Offseason Needs

Power Forward:
The Raptors do not have a pick in the first round of the draft which will really hurt their search for a starting power forward. Amir Johnson was really good last season, but he is not starting material. He would be better utilized if he were coming off of the bench. Their best chance to nab someone would be in free agency. If i were the Raptors, I would go hard after Paul Millsap. Millsap can make plays on offense and would be a good compliment for Rudy Gay. He would also be an efficient shooter for the Raptors. Right now they do not have one, Gay and Derozen do not fit that bill. JJ Hickson could also be a good target in free agency. He would kill the glass.

Point Guard:
Kyle Lowry is decent, but there is a reason he has bounced from team to team. He wants to be a star, but he simply is not one. He can be a starter for another year and he will have to be because they do not have a draft pick and there is not a starter they can afford. There is no point in picking up a backup because John Lucas is pretty good. They should try to trade Lowry before the draft for a draft pick and if they cant they should try to trade him during the regular season in order to let the rebuilding process continue.

Center:
I think Jonas Valanciunas is going to be a good player. However, they can improve from Aaron Gray at backup center. They could pickup Timofey Mozgov in free agency. He is a good backup center and is still pretty young. Whoever they decide to pickup should be better than Gray.

The Raptors are in quite a conundrum. They traded for Rudy Gay who is not as good as some claim. He is way overrated and over payed. Rudy Gay will almost be impossible to trade. They do not have a draft pick this season. They cannot get a starter unless Millsap decides to sign with them. They might be the worst team in the league next season. They are going to be unable to acquire quality players this year. They are in very bad position.
