LA Lakers Offseason Needs

Resign Dwight Howard:
Many do not like Howard, but he is still one of the best centers in the league. He is a very good defensive player who should improve from last season since he should be healthy. The Lakers do not have a draft pick in the next two draft because of the Howard trade which means they need to keep him. Howard needs to stay on the team, he an Gasol will make a good frontline in the future. Howard is very underrated after a very bad season, but I believe he will bounce back in a big way next season. The Lakers can offer Howard more money than any other team which should help him make his decision.

Small Forward:
Again the Lakers don't have a draft pick so they are not in a good situation. Ron Artest is no longer any good as an offensive player. His defense has also taken a step back from recent years. They should take a look at Corey Brewer in the offseason. He will not cost much and he is a really good defensive player who knows his place on the offense. The Lakers cannot afford much in free agency, but that is the price you pay when you try to build a super team.

Point Guard:
Nash will not last forever and this could be his final year. They do not have a draft pick so they cannot get one in the draft. There is also not much in the way of free agency at the point guard position. There is nothing they can do about it this offseason, but it is something to think about in the future when Nash's contract is no longer on the books.

The only major thing they can do this season is resign Dwight. They need to do this in the worst way. He has to be the future of the team after Kobe leaves. Kobe should be OK before the new year since he is such a hard worker. I think the Lakers will improve immensely from last season. They should be able to win about 50 games next season.
