Marc Gasol, Iguodala snubbed from First Team All Defense

There were 6 players voted into the NBA 1st team all defense team due to a tie between Jokim Noah and Tyson Chandler. Both of these players are really good and I have no problem with either of them receiving this award. However, I have a serious problem with the Defensive player of the year not getting the award. Marc Gasol was dominant all year, but casual fans and apparently the coaches to do see this because he did not have a lot of blocks. A player can be a really good on ball defender without getting 3 blocks a game. How Gasol did not make it, we may never know.

Continuing on from the blocks discussion, how the hell did Ibaka make it. Apparently because of blocks. However, just like not getting blocks does not make a player a bad defender, getting a lot of blocks does not make you a good one. Ibaka is not a good defender, he does not play good defense on his man and since he goes for a lot of blocks his player gets a lot of easy layups and dunks off of passes. In no way should Ibaka be first team all defense, this award going to him is a disgrace to all other legitimate defenders.

Andre Iguodala was also snubbed from, not only first team all defense, but from second team as well. He continually shut down his man all season and made the Nuggets defense so much better, but he gets no love. I really do not understand this and I don't think I could put any faith into these awards anymore.
