Indiana Pacers Offseason Needs

Trade Danny Granger:
Paul George is now the star of the team. He and this team have proven that they do not need Granger. Luckily for them, Granger is still a goof player. He is much like Rudy Gay, an inefficient shooter, but he can score. Teams will want to trade for him because of the big points he is capable of putting up. If they could get a late draft pick for him, that would be ideal. They could also package a deal in which they get a couple of good role players to help them out. They do not need Granger so they might as well get something out of him while they can.

Resign David West:
David West has been very important to Indiana's recent success. He is a solid player to have down low. He is a good rebounded and he can hit a mid range shot with consistency. He is an important part of the tough duo inside with Roy Hibbert. The Pacers need their tough mentality inside in order to succeed. If they let West leave, there would be no way to replace him in free agency or through the draft. He is a little older, he will be 32 next season, but he is still worth a three year contract. He would be effective for the entirety of the contact which is something you are always looking for when signing a player.

Guard:
DJ Augustine is likely to leave after this season because he was upset with his playing time. They also do not have much behind Lance Stevenson at shooing guard and Stevenson should not be a starter anyhow. Tim Hardaway JR, Reggie Bullock and Jamaal Franklin could all be available at their pick. Hardaway and Bullock are really good shooters which is what the Pacers can dearly use. I think a more likely pick would be Dennis Schroeder out of Germany. He is a good shooing guard. He would replace Augustine as the backup point guard. He could also log a lot of minutes in the future since George Hill can play some shooting guard. They just need some type of guard to add depth behind George Hill and Lance Stevenson.

The Pacers have a had a great season this year. They improved immensely from last season and they should be a force in the playoffs for years to come, as long as they keep their team together. They can do without Danny Granger since they did fine without him this season. If they can get a draft pick or some role players for him, that would be a good haul. They need to keep David West in order to be competitive, he is their rock. They need to use their first round pick on some type of guard. They just need general guard depth. I expect the Pacers to be able to catapult the Knicks in the standings, but they should be in third place again because of the return of Rose.
