Sacramento Kings Offseason Needs

Starting Power Forward:
Anthony Bennett is the one prospect that the Kings should have their eye on. They need a power forward of starting caliber. Bennett is very athletic and should fill a scoring void that will be left when Tyreke Evans leaves. They could also choose to go after Paul Millsap in free agency. He would get to start and would get a lot of looks on offense which would be a draw. They need someone who can scoop up rebounds next to Demarcus Cousins. If Bennett is not available, they could always go with Cody Zeller.

Starting Small Forward:
If Bennett is not available, they could choose to go after Shabazz Muhammad who would provide a scoring threat on the wing. Unfortunately for the Kings, there is nothing in free agency at the small forward position. However there is a strong possibility Bennett could be gone by their pick. This means they would likely pick up Muhammad. Muhammad would give them an actual scoring threat unlike Evans or Thorton.

Let Evans Walk:
Just let him go. He had a fantastic rookie year and has regressed ever since. He is not a good distributer or scorer. He has a good all around game, but does not do anything great. He wants to dominate the ball when he really shouldn't. He should not be part of the rebuilding process for this team. I would sign Corey Brewer in his place. Brewer knows his place on the offense and does not have to control the ball in order to be effective.

If Demarcus Cousins can get is act together, he and Anthony Bennett would be a killer front court duo. He needs to not explode at every little thing. If the Kings can get Bennett then all they need to focus on is getting someone who can score on the wing. If they end up with Muhammad then they would have their wing scorer, but would still need someone inside. Isaiah Thomas showed growth last season and I think he has the potential to be their starting point guard of the near future. It is likely that the Kings have another really bad season, even with their new additions which puts them in prime position to get either Parker or Wiggins in the 2014 draft. If that happens then they would be set.
