Denver Broncos Punter Preview

The Broncos brought in Ryan Doerr as an undrafted free agent, but it is highly unlikely that he surpasses Britton Colquitt as the starter. Doerr was only brought in so he could improve and hopefully land on a team after training camp.

Colquitt had a very good season last year. He is an expert at putting balls inside the 20 yard line. He is an excellent punter and should be signed to a long term deal before the season starts. With him and Prater, the Broncos have one of the best kicking duos in the league. Coulquitt has a very strong leg and his average would be better if the offense did not stall near mid field a lot of the time. I wish their was a stat for punting distance from beyond the 30 yard line, that would better gauge the kicking distance ability of punters.

I hope Doerr lands on a team this season. I think he can be a really good punter, but as of now, he is not better than Coulquitt and will likely not make the team, unless, the coaches try to get cute with the roster.
