Denver Broncos QB Competition

Peyton Manning is obviously going to be the starter until he retires. The competition is between Brock Osweiler, Zac Dysert and Ryan Katz for the backup role. The Broncos will most likely only keep three QBs. Osweiler is most likely a lock to stay on the roster since he was drafted in the second round only a year ago. Even though this might be true, that does not mean that either Katz or Dysert could not overtake him on the depth chart.

I personally liked Dysert in the draft and I will not lie about the fact that I absolutely hated the Osweiler pick, but I honestly think Dysert is the better QB. Dysert may be able to overtake him even though he is only a rookie. Dysert is a tough player who can improve in many key areas, but I don't think he is any worse than when Osweiler was drafted. He has good size and a nice arm and he is more accurate than Osweiler. Ryan Katz has a chance to pass Dysert on the depth chart, but it will be difficult. He is mostly here for a try out and probably wont even be retained on the practice squad. He will get some valuable tips from Manning which is always good for a young QB.

Ultimately none of these QB's should see the field outside of the pre season and maybe some week 17 action. Manning has never missed a game outside of the 2011 season. That should continue. Manning will hopefully pass down some tips to these young QB's, but ultimately these young QB's development is on them and no one else.
