Nuggets Fire George Karl

Early this morning, the Denver Nuggets announced that they fired reigning NBA Coach of the Year George Karl. The man who lead last years team to a franchise record 57 wins was fired. Yes he can be stubborn with his lineups at times, Andre Miller and not playing rookies, but he was still a great coach who will find himself in the Hall of Fame someday.

This will likely have very bad effects in this coming free agency. Andre Iguodala is a free agent who is now likely to leave because he sees that the Nuggets are not interested in success. Players such as Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried have voiced their frustrations about letting Ujiri walk and then firing George. I sense there could be a dark time coming in the franchise, they are likely picking in the top 10 next season.

The Nuggets are now stuck looking for a new coach. The top candidate should be Lionel Hollins from Memphis. He is a defensive minded coach, but I still think he would allow the Nuggets to run their fast paced offense. There are not that many other coaching candidate out their, but I would like them to take a look at their own assistant coach, Melvin Hunt. I think he would be a talented coach to have on the sidelines and he would be able to help out the defense.

George Karl should have no trouble finding a job. The LA Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies should be his top two priorities and I think Memphis will be the front runner.
