Inept Nugget Ownership

There is no way to get around the fact that the Denver Nugget's ownership is completely inept. Normally one would hold onto their talented front office piece, Ujiri, who just won NBA Executive of the Year, but not the Nuggets. They would not fork up enough money that was needed to keep Ujiri. That could hurt a lot in the future as the Nuggets look to sign free agents and make good draft picks. It could even hurt them now because Iguodala could choose not to come back because he is not comfortable with the new head of the front office.

They also chose to fire the coach who won NBA Coach of the Year this last season. George Karl lead the team to its best record in franchise history and improved the defense immensely. Although he did not lead the team past the first round again, the team had the potential to get to the conference finals or even further, but without him the team might not have the potential to get to the playoffs.

Andre Iguodala is a long shot to come back next season because of these two moves. Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried have already voiced their frustrations about George Karl leaving. Do not be surprised if this team looks a lot different before the beginning of the season. Andre Miller will likely be gone, which I am not complaining about. I already discussed why Iguodala will be gone next season. I would not be surprised if the new front office tries to make some other moves before the season starts. If they do, I doubt the team makes the playoffs next season.

This ownership seems more concerned with profits rather than actually being good. They will not spend into the cap, they wont reisgn their top guy in the front office because of money and they wont spend more money on a Hall of Fame coach. If Nuggets fans ever want to see real change, it will have to start with a change in ownership.
