Jason Kidd Head Coach?

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Jason Kidd has notified the Brooklyn Nets that he is 'seriously' interested in their vacant head coaching position. This is kind of ironic, since Kidd is sort of known as a "coach killer." Diving into the head coaching realm is a lot tougher than many think. He would be in charge of the entire team, along with game planning and all the other stuff that comes with running a team.

Kidd will need to get some talented head coaches, in order to get over the learning curve. Most former players start off as assistants, before they jump into the head coaching world. I don't know if Kidd is sure about how much work a head coaching job is, maybe he does and he wants the challenge. The Nets are a talented team who are looking to contend, I doubt that they would be willing to take a flyer on a first time coach.

I think Kidd needs to get a job as an assistant before he puts his name in the hat for any head coaching position. If he finds success as an assistant and decides that he enjoys coaching, then and only then, should he pursue a head coaching job.

I think Kidd can be successful, but not right out of the gate coming in as a head coach. I am sure a couple of teams would be very willing to bring him on as an assistant coach. I am very sure the Nets will not hire him as the head coach, but when they do find a head coach, they should pursue him as an assistant.
