NBA Mock Draft 2.0

1. Cleveland Cavaliers: Otto Porter SF Georgetown
I wrote earlier about the Cavs wanting to trade out of this pick. I will not speculate trades on this mock draft though. I think the Cavs whether they trade down or not, will take Otto Porter out of Georgetown. They need a small forward more than anything else. Noel would not be a smart choice at this position. If they draft Porter they will have a nice trio of Irving, Porter and Thompson.

2. Orlando Magic: Nerlens Noel C/PF Kentucky
The Magic should take Trey Burke at this position, but I have a sneaky suspicion that they will take Noel. This would be one of the worst picks that they could make. He does not fill and immediate need and he will be out until at least december. There have been rumblings that the Magic would like to trade for Eric Bledsoe. They would part ways with Afflalo in this deal. Again I dont speculate, but if this trade happened, I envision the Magic taking McLemore

3. Washington Wizards: Anthony Bennet PF/SF UNLV
The Wizards should trade up for Noel, but as of now they are stuck with the third pick. Bennett would be a nice scorer on the wing. He is a good rebounder, but not much of a defender. He would likely start next to Nene and would form a nice trio in the future with Wall and Beal.

4. Charlotte Bobcats: Ben McLemore SG Kansas
The Bobcats should be delighted to get McLemore at this point in the draft. He will be a very good scorer at the next level and he will be able to stretch defenses with his shot. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, McLemore will not be enough to fix this broken team. They will likely be in contention for either Wiggins or Parker in 2014.

5. Phoenix Suns: Victor Oladipo SG Indiana
The Suns desperately need wing help. They would love it if somehow McLemore fell to them, but Oladipo is a fine player to have with the fifth pick. He could use some work on his outside game, but he is very good on the drive. He and Dragic would form a nice backcourt grouping. Them, like the Bobcats will not be in contention next season and maybe they will luck out in the lottery and get either Wiggins or Parker.

6. New Orleans Pelicans: Alex Len C Maryland
Some mocks have Trey Burke mocked to the Pelicans and I have no idea why. Vasquez played great last season, he is, by far, the least of their worries. They should be focused on pairing Anthony Davis with another big on the block. Len's offensive game is not fully developed yet, but he and Davis would make a very good, very young defensive duo. When Len gets his offensive game together, there is no telling how dominant this front court could be.

7. Sacramento Kings: Shabazz Muhammad SF UCLA
The Kings are probably not going to hold onto Tyreke Evans, which means that they will need a wing scorer. Evans was not much of a scorer, but he was their go to guy. Muhammad will likely be a better scorer in the NBA, but not as much of an all-around player that Evans is. The Kings need help in a lot of areas, but small forward is probably the biggest and need.

8. Detroit Pistons: Trey Burke PG Michigan
The Pistons catch a break with Burke falling this far. They could use more help at shooting guard or small forward, but Burke would be a welcomed addition as an outside scorer. There is nothing wrong with Calderon at point, but Burke is a long term solution. I reckon Burke would start right away or at least get big minutes off of the bench.

9. Minnesota Timberwolves: CJ McCollum SG Lehigh
The Timberwolves need a shooting guard in the worst possible way. McCollum is more of a combo guard, but he has the skills to play shooting guard, the only thing holding him back is his height. He should be starting as soon as possible because the Timberwolves absolutely need immediate help at this position.

10. Portland Trailblazers: Cody Zeller C Indiana
This pick rests solely on whether or not they bring back JJ Hickson. I do not think they will, which means the Trailblazers should take a center. Meyers Leonard showed nothing last season that would make anyone think he could be a starting center. Cody Zeller needs to toughen up a bit, but he has a nice offensive game that would mesh well with the Blazers. They need to work on their bench, but why waste a top 10 pick on a bench player when you can have a starter?

11. Philadelphia 76ers: Rudy Gobert C France
Andrew Bynum is probably not coming back, which leaves a gaping hole at center. Gobert is a developmental player, but he would likely receive a good amount of minutes in his first season. Gobert turned heads when he had the longest wing span and the longest standing reach in combine history. He needs to work on his offensive game, but his measurables should be enough to get him through his first couple of seasons.

12. Oklahoma City Thunder: Kelly Olynyk C Gonzaga
Like Gobert, Olynyk also turned heads at the combine, but for totally different reasons. Olynyk's offensive game was fully on display in the combine. He showed he can hit mid-range jumpers with consistency, which will really help his draft stock. He would likely replace Perkins inside.

13. Dallas Mavericks: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope SG Georgia
The Mavericks need help at both guard positions, but shooting guard is the most urgent need. Caldwell-Pope would provide them with a shooter that they were hoping to get with OJ Mayo. Pope needs to work on scoring inside, but he should develop that once teams start to fear his shot.

14. Utah Jazz: Michael Carter-Williams PG Utah
The Jazz need a point guard in the worst way. They have not had one since Derron Williams left and last season Mo Williams was hurt for the most part. Williams is not the answer at point guard, they will only find that in the draft. Carter-Williams is really tall for a point guard, but struggles to shoot over other players. He is a good distributor who will bother other point guards with his length. He could be gone at this point, but if the draft falls this way the Jazz should not complain.

15. Milwaukee Bucks: Allen Crabbe SG California
The Bucks might need guard help if both Ellis and Jennings leave in free agency. Crabbe is a good three point shooter, but he needs to work on not settling for shots. If he can learn how to score inside, he could have a lethal NBA career.

16. Boston Celtics: Gorgui Dieng C Louisville
The Celtics need a center, Garnett is not a center, he needs to be moved back to his natural position. Dieng is a good defensive player and his has a developing offensive game. He could be a really good player in the future and I think he will be an important part for the Celtic's youth movement.

17. Atlanta Hawks: Gianna Antetokounmpo SF Greece
After Josh Smith leaves in free agency, the Hawks will need another athletic forward. Giannas is a point forward type who would do wonders with the Hawks. He would likely start right away because the Hawks are lacking in the small forward department.

18. Atlanta Hawks: Dario Saric PF Croatia
It might be unlikely that the Hawks take two Europeans back to back, but if these two are there by their pick they should take them. Saric is a versatile European player. He has great size and fundamentals which he will put to use in the NBA. He has the ability to shoot over other power forwards, but it can be tough to develop European players to their potential.

19. Cleveland Cavaliers: Steven Adams C Pittsburg
The Cavs should not waste their first pick on Nerlens Noel, but they still need a center. Adams would be a nice a nice pick because he has an NBA ready body. His offensive game really needs some help, but he could be ready to get some minutes in his first season.

20. Chicago Bulls: Jeff Withey C Kansas
Withey is a dangerous shot blocker who is also good as a post up defender. The Bulls need to replace what they lost in Asik and Withey should be able to do that. When Noah went out in games, teams did not fear going inside, but if Noah is replaced by Withey, teams will.

21. Utah Jazz: Tony Mitchell SF North Texas
The Jazz need some small forward help and Tony Mitchell would bring it. He is very athletic and can from the inside. He could use some work on his outside shooting, but they have Gordon Hayward for that.

22. Brooklyn Nets: Mason Plumlee PF Duke
The Nets need some big man help. Reggie Evans played well toward the end of last season, but he may not be able to keep it up for an entire season. Plumlee would be able to help, he is a decent scoring presence, unlike Evans. He plays OK defense and is very active on the boards, much like Evans. I also think Evans would be better suited for a bench role.

23. Indiana Pacers: Dennis Schroeder PG Germany
DJ Augustine will likely leave in free agency, which will leave a hole at backup point guard. He is very fast, but scouts do not know if his shot will be able to extend out to the NBA three point line. He would compliment George Hill very nicely.

24. New York Knicks: Tim Hardaway JR SG Michigan
The Knicks might not bring JR Smith back next season, thus they may need to draft a shooting guard. Iman Shumpert played well last season, but he has nobody backing him up. Hardaway would provide a three point shooting presence in Smiths' absence.

25. LA Clippers: Jamaal Franklin SG San Diego State
The Clippers need a shooting guard. Chauncey Billups is getting old and has not been able to hold up in recent years. Jamal Crawford played great last season, but he is also getting up there in age and he is better suited as a sixth man. Franklin would bring athleticism, but he could use some work on his jump shot.

26. Minnesota Timberwolves: Lucas Noguiera C Brazil
They will likely bring back Pekovic, but their depth is abysmal. Noguiera is very athletic, unlike Love and Pek, but his offensive game is far from refined. He would make a very good role player to come in and play a couple of minutes here and there in his first season.

27. Denver Nuggets: Reggie Bullock G/F UNC
The Nuggets need a shooter in the worst way. They would have needed one anyways, but news broke that Gallo still has not had surgery on his torn ACL, which likely means he wont be back until at least February. He probably wont even be at full health for the entire season. Bullock will provide shooting off of the bench when the Nuggets need it.

28. San Antonio Spurs: Sergey Karasev SF Russia
If Karasev falls this far, the Spurs are in luck. They needed depth behind Leonard anyways and they will be getting a very good scorer to put behind him.

29. Oklahoma City Thunder: Ricky Ledo G/F Providence
The Thunder need someone behind Durant so he can actually get some rest. Ledo has loads of potential, but he did not get to play since he was ruled ineligible

30. Phoenix Suns: Glen Rice JR NBADL
The Suns need a small forward and Rice would be the best one on the board at this point.
