Welker to Denver

The Broncos realize how tight their window is to win a Super Bowl so they decided to go out and get a top flight slot receiver to improve their already deadly passing attack. Welker is 32 and signed a 2 year deal worth 14 million. Welker should love it here, he moves from one Hall of Fame bound quarterback to another. This is a low risk deal for Denver since it is only a 2 year deal.

Welker should mesh well with Manning considering they are both very smart players. Manning needs his receivers to find open holes in the defense and Welker is a very good player at doing that very thing. The Broncos now have a trio of receivers who gained more than 1,000 yards last season in Thomas, Decker and now Welker.

Welker will now most likely be the starting slot receiver and Thomas and Decker will most likely hold onto their starting spots. Decker will most likely be the one to see his production fall off the most since he played the role Welker will now be filling. Thomas is still the deep threat and play maker although he likely sees a little decline in targets.

The Broncos will again be viable Super Bowl contenders and now their biggest threat is without their best receiver. I envision a Broncos Vs. Seahawks although we cant forget that Super Bowls are not won  in March or April.
