The Rockets amnestied Luis Scola in a bold move to acquire Dwight Howard. Scola obviously want part of the proposed trade for Howard. If they don't acquire Howard it wasn't too bad of a move since the Rockets are going to blow up the team anyways as we can tell by trading Lowry and letting Dragic go. The Rockets are going to pull out all stops the get Howard and if they do it will remind him of playing on the Magic, without any other players to help out. Scola was not producing the same since he got his new contract and they used the amnesty clause to their advantage.
This opens up room for Royce White and Terrence Jones, if they don't acquire Howard, since at least one of them will be playing mostly Power Forward. Patrick Petterson will most likely start with either White or Jones coming off the bench after him. They will also need a center if they don't land Howard since they traded Marcus Camby and Samuel Dalambert in the offseason. Lets just say they are in some trouble if they don't get Howard, but that is what they are planning anyways. They won't make the playoffs for a couple of years, but I think they will come back with a vengeance in 3-4 years.
There is no word on where Scola will land, he could go to San Antonio, but that is far fetched since they just extend Diaw. Wherever he goes he will have to come off of the bench. I would not mind if the Nuggets picked him up to play behind Kenneth Faried.
