Brooklyn Nets, New Name, New Team.

The team formally known as the New Jersey Nets have been making moves this offseason. The Nets have changed more than just their name, a month ago it looked like Williams and Wallace would not be back for this season. Now they are both re-signed and the Nets added Joe Johnson while keeping there key young pieces, Marshon Brook and Brook Lopez, for a potential trade for Howard. Even if they don't land Howard they have a solid team that could possibly make the playoffs next season in a weak Eastern Conference.

They have a chance to land the Dwight Howard, the best center in the league, and they should do whatever possible to land him. They have key youth players that could play a role in the deal. SG Marshon Brooks seems like he could be a top scorer and Brook Lopez scores well for a center, but needs to work on his rebounding. Howard would put this team over the top and make them an instant contender and they would be able to win right away unlike Miami because they would have a top flight PG and C, both of which Miami does not have.

If they don't land Howard they would have one of the best bench scorers in Marshon Brooks next season. He would come off the bench behind Johnson and they wouldn't even lose much of a step on offense. Lopez is one of the top scoring centers, but he needs to rebound to make a significant splash this season. Whatever happens the Nets should be in the playoffs next season, without a doubt.
