Eric Gordon has publicly stated that he would rather play for Phoenix than New Orleans, but matching his offer was a great move by the Hornets. If he pouts and Austin Rivers outshines him they can trade him and possibly bring in a nice haul. Even if teams know he is pouting they should still trade for him because of his immense talent.
New Orleans now has the upper hand over Gordon unlike last week when it was vice-versa. New Orleans had to match this offer because he can easily be trade and ho bad would it look on Stern if the Key piece in the Chris Paul trade left after he vetoed the trade to the Lakers?
The Hornets will compete for a playoff spot this season, but I still think they have a couple of seasons before they really start to compete for a championship.
