The Nets to Give Lopez a Max Deal

The Nets are going to give Brook Lopez a max deal which basically kills any chance of getting Dwight Howard. Lopez is a center who can score, but he doesnt play defense well and doesn't reboud well for a 7 footer. 7.5 is the most rebounds he ever had in a season and that does not cut it for a person of his stature. I don't think he deserves the max deal, but the Nets might be saving face from botching the Dwight Howard deal.
Grade: C

The nips the Howard deal in the bud. The Nets never had the best offer anyways since they would not offer up a star player unless you consider Lopez a star player. Howard will now go else where, maybe LA or Houston. LA can offer the best player out of the bunch while Houston can offer the best package of players. Also Howard will have to sign an extension since he can't threaten to leave in free agency to the Nets since they won't have anymore cap room. This is becoming like the Melo affair, but at least the Nuggets traded him quickly.
