Top 10 Shooting Guards 2012-13

This is the top 10 shooting guards in the NBA for the upcoming season in my humble opinion. Also this is not based solely on stats, but on what the player does for the team and the teams success.

10. Kevin Martin
Martin was injured for most of last season, but isn't he always. His injuries and the fact that he is  pure scorer and doesn't do much else. He averaged 17 points last season, which he should improve on, but he doesn't do much else on the defensive end or on offense. He is entering the last year of his contract so he might be motivated this year.

2012-13 predictions: 19 points 2 assists 2 rebounds

9. Arron Afflalo
Afflalo really stepped up his game this season after getting a new contract. He averaged 15.1 points per game and played excellent D like normal. He averaged 18.7 points per game in the last 30 games of the season. He just keeps adding layers to his game, he has always been good on D, but now he can shoot well from anywhere. He was the second leading scorer on the Nuggets last season and he should be ready to take another step next season.

2012-13 predictions: 17.5 Points 3 assists 3 rebounds

8.DeMar DeRozen
Rozen has always been a high flyer, but he has added layers too his game also. He averaged 16.7 points last season, but I expect those numbers to go up next year. He should also be rebounding more than he is 3.3 per game, down .5 rebounds from last year. He is young and will continue to improve and the next season should be his best yet.

2012-13 predictions: 18.5points 3 assists 4 rebounds

7. Marcus Thornton
Thornton upped his game, mostly due to his increased minutes, in Sacramento after he was traded form the Hornets. His points were down from his partial season as a King, from 21 PPG to 18.7 but his minutes also went down. Thornton is Sacramento's best scorer and it will stay that way next season. Tyreke Evans has fallen down since his rookie year so Thornton is the best candidate to carry the load.

2012-13 predictions: 19 points 2 assists 5 rebounds

6. Joe Johnson
Johnson hasn't been the same since he received his max contract, not that he deserved it anyways. Im not saying he's a bad player, but just because you are good does not mean you need nor deserve a max contract. He averaged 18.8 points last season, but had 3.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists. Johnson is on his way down mostly because he is getting old, but he still does a lot well.

2012-13 predictions: 18.5 points 3.5 assists 4 rebounds

5.  James Harden
Harden really came on this year, winning 6th man of the year, so he is in line for a big contract soon season. He is one of the better shooting guards in the league and should be payed like one. He's a good 3 point shooter and a great shooter overall. He averaged 16.8 points and 4.1 rebounds last year as a 6th man, only playing 31 minutes. Whether he is playing for OKC or another team he will be in line for a big season.

2012-13 predictions: 19.5 points 4 assists 4.5 rebounds

4. Monta Ellis
Ellis is a scorer who can dish much like Allen Iverson, not putting them in the same level, but they have the same style of play. Ellis's scoring did drop when he was traded to the Bucks, but that can be attributed to playing with Brandon Jennings and the unfamiliarity of the situation. With a training camp he should be ready for another big year. The only thing that brings him down is his field goal percentage.

2012-13 predictions: 20 points 6 assists 3.5 rebounds

3. Dwyane Wade
Wade had a disappointing season scoring wise, he is losing his athleticism so he will have to learn how to play without it. He hit 30 and much like Kobe he will have to adapt to change. His scoring dropped to 22.1 points which is down 3 points from last season. His rebounding also fell so until I see he can adapt he will only be the 3rd best SG in the league.

2012-13 predictions: 22 points 4.5 assists 5 rebounds

2.Eric Gordon
Gordon only played in 9 games last season because of injury, but when healthy he is one of the best shooting guards in the league. He can score from anywhere and dish the ball some. He all be in line for his best season yet because the Hornets will draft another playmaker in the draft to take all the attention off of Gordon.

2012-13 predictions: 24 points 4 assists 3 rebounds

1. Kobe Bryant
Who else? Kobe played great last season, he had 27.9 points which was a high since 08. He played phenomenal and was a big reason for the Laker's success. After all of these years he is still the best shooting guard in the league, he adapts and he just loves the game. Its going to be a sad day when he retires and there really isn't a shooting guard to take his place atop the list.

2012-13: 27 points 4.5 assists 5.5 rebounds
