Top 10 Point Guards 2012-13

This is a countdown of the top point guards heading into next season. I take all stats and into account, success of the team and the impact the player had on his team.

10. Kyrie Irving
Irving won rookie of the year and was phenomenal, but I am not ready to put him any higher on this list. He averaged 18.5 points and 5.4 assists as a rookie. He needs to prove himself more, but the Cavs have a nice opportunity to snag another player to help Irving out. Bradley Beal would be ideal and he could help Irving catapult up this list.

2012-13 prediction: 18 points 7 assists 3 rebounds

9. Steve Nash
Nash may be old, but he is playing high quality basketball.  He averaged 12.5 points and 10.7 assists which is impressive since the Suns don't really have a strong team. He might leave next season and if he lands on a team with a star or two those assist numbers will rise.

2012-13 prediction: 12 points 11.5 assists 2 rebounds

8.John Wall
Wall got off to a bad start last season, but now the Wizards have Nene who added some much needed stability to their front court. Wall had 16.3 points and 8 assists, but he shot poorly from the field, 42%, which brings down his stocks. When he gets a handle on his outside shot he will be better for it as will the Wizards.

2012-13 prediction: 17 points 8.5 assists 5 rebounds

7. Ty Lawson
Lawson had his first full season starting last season and he lead his team in points and assists, 16.4 and 6.6 assists. He also shot 48.8% from the field which is amazing. He really turned it on at the end of the season and in the post season he upped his point production to 19 points per game. That could be a sign of things to come. He played a lot of 2 guard when Andre Miller was in the game so when he leaves in the offseason Lawson's assists should go up.

2012-13 prediction: 19 points 7.5 assists 4 rebounds

6. Tony Parker
Parker was in the MVP race for a little but last season and for good reason. He was the reason the Spurs ended up with the top spot in the west and the reason they lost in the playoffs, which illustrates how important he is to the team. He had 18.3 points and 7.7 assists last season. His stats will stay close to the same, but won't drop because he plays for the Spurs.

2012-13 prediction: 19 points 8 assists 3 rebounds

5. Derrick Rose
Rose suffered from a lot of injuries last season which was capped off with a torn ACL. He will miss most of the season and it will take him a while for him to shake the rust off. He had 21.8 points and 7.9 assists, he would be able to improve on those numbers, but he has to come back first.

4. Rajon Rondo
Rondo is a triple-double machine averaging 11.9 points 11.7 assists and 4.8 rebounds. If he had an offensive game that was more than 15 feet from the rim he would be the best point guard in the league. Rondo will be without Allen and maybe Garnett next year, but he has proven he can put up numbers without star players.

2012-13 predictions: 13 points 12 assists 5 rebounds

3. Chris Paul
Paul was traded to the Clippers before the season started and he had the great opportunity of throwing lobs to Blake Griffin. Paul had 19.8 points and 9.1 assists last season and those numbers will improve when he gets more weapons and playing time with Griffin. He helped the Clippers to the playoffs and even get a playoff win for the first time in a long time.

2012-13 predictions: 20 points 9.5 assists 4 rebounds

2. Russell Westbrook
Westbrook has to play second fiddle to Kevin Durant, but that doesn't mean he isn't one of the best point guards in the league. He had 23.6 points, but only 5.5 assists, if he can up his passing production he could become the best in the league. He needs to learn that Durant is the number 1 and when he does he and the Thunder will be better off.

2012-13 predictions: 23 points 7 assists 5 rebounds

1. Deron Williams
Williams had great stats for playing in New Jersey. He is likely going to Dallas in the offseason where he will easily up he production considering he had 21 points and 8.7 assists. Assuming he goes to Dallas he will have Dirk on his team who can hit any shot from anywhere, Williams has never played with that type of player before.

2012-13 predictions: 22 points 10.5 assists 3 rebounds
